Sue S. (Van Deventer) Fuqua
July 8, 1936 to July 24, 2013
Sue S. (Van Deventer) Fuqua, 77, passed away Wed, July 24, 2013 at AMG Specialty Hospital, located at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, after an extended illness.
She was born July 8, 1936 in Coalmont, Indiana.
She worked for several years as a secretary at Maple Grove Church of God under Pastor Marvin Baker.
She was the adored wife of H. Barton Fuqua, and they enjoyed 59 years of marriage, living in Terre Haute, Indiana, and spending 18 months of their early years in Germany, where her husband was stationed, before moving to Anderson in 1960.
Sue was loved by many friends and neighbors, and was known for always being there to help someone in need. She was a member of Madison Park Church of God, and loved working with the children in the nursery there.
She and her husband raised two children and had their grandchildren in their home for a brief time.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, H. Barton Fuqua, two children, Anthony J. Fuqua of Carmichael, CA and Lisa V. Ballard (special friend Joe Young) of Chillicothe, OH; grandchildren, Bethany N. Ryan of Frederick, MD; Justin R. Richey of St. Joseph, MI; Brandon K. Richey of Chesterfield, and J. Aaron Kress of Chillicothe, OH; three great grandchildren; Natalee and Matthias Ryan and Loraline Richey and special friend Pat Tompkins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lloyd C. and Lucile H. Fuqua.
Service will be held 2:00 P.M. on Monday, July 29 at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Pastor Mike Schwartz officiating. Visitation will be from noon until 2 PM at the funeral home.
Burial will be in East Maplewood Cemetery.
