Obituary

Mr. Felix S. Glovasky Jr. longtime resident of Woburn passed away peacefully in his home on July 24th, following a three year battle with cancer. He was 71. Born in Waltham he was one of six children of the late Helen (Dolitka) and Felix S. Glovasky Sr.

Felix was raised and educated in Waltham where he graduated from St. Mary High School. Felix was an avid sports fan throughout his life and in his younger years he enjoyed playing hockey, baseball and softball. He was a United States Army Veteran of the Vietnam War honorably serving from 1962 to 1965. Following his return home from the service he studied mechanical engineering at Emerson College. He retired from the Polaroid Corporation where he worked for over 30 years as a Mechanical Designer. In more recent years Felix worked part time in Natick for the Dog Watch Hidden Fence Company where he made many wonderful friendships with co-workers and customers. Felix was extremely devoted and loyal to his family and friends. He had a strong faith and attended church regularly. He was very charitable and always placed the needs of others before his own.

Felix is survived by his beloved wife, Ellen F. (Hardy) Glovasky and together they shared 47 years of marriage. He was the devoted father of Ellen Mary Jordan of Everett, Barbara A. Gomes and her husband Roy of Woburn. He was the loving grandfather of Luke, Raychel and Rocco Gomes. Brother of Phyllis McGuinness of Millis, William Glovasky of Wellesley, Patricia Glovasky and Robert Glovasky both of Waltham, and Walter Glovasky of Ashland. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Saturday, July 27th, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Barbara Church, 138 Cambridge Rd., Woburn, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home will be held on Friday from 4 thru 8 p.m. Services will conclude with burial at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Felix's memory to the Dana - Farber Cancer Institute, Division of Development & The Jimmy Fund, 10 Brookline Place West, Floor 6, Brookline, MA 02445-9924.
