Methuen – Mary T. (Doucette) Roberts, 90, of Methuen, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2013 after a long illness.
She was born in Lewiston, Maine and lived in Methuen for over 60 years. She was the wife of the late Alvin A. Roberts.
Mary was a bookkeeper at Spence Hardware for 10 years and was a commercial loan officer at Arlington Trust Company for 10 years until her retirement in 1990. She was a member of and taught Sunday School at First Church Congregational. She also played piano for the church services at the Methuen Housing Authority, where she resided. In her free time, she was an avid reader and enjoyed sports. She also loved animals.
Mary will be deeply missed by her 2 daughters, Marilyn J. Murphy and Nan S. Roberts; her son, Mark S. Roberts; her 6 grandchildren; her 11 great grandchildren; her 4 great great grandchildren; her sister, Jean Lansberry; and her 2 nephews.
Family and friends will honor and celebrate Mary's life by gathering for visiting hours in the KENNETH H. POLLARD FUNERAL HOME, 233 Lawrence St., Methuen on Monday, July 29th from 3-6 PM. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday at 10AM at First Church Congregational, 26 Pleasant Street, Methuen. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested, in Mary's honor, memorial contributions be made to Alzheimer's Association of Massachusetts, 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA 02472 or to the MSPCA at Nevins Farm, 400 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844.
