Obituary

Arthur J. Tarani, a life long Medford resident, died Sunday at the New England Medical Center, Boston. He was 73.

Born in Medford, he was the son of the late Alexander and the late Louise (Lemongelli) Tarani. After completing high school, Arthur embarked on a long career which allowed him to share his creative talent. In the field of building and construction, Arthur used not only his hands, but his eye for detail in bringing to completion all manner of construction projects. Whether taking care of the fine details of finish carpentry of home construction or delving into the complex architectural aspects of building a shopping center or gas station, he brought his customary strong work ethic and sense of ingenuity to the project.

Upon retirement, Arthur found a new outlet for his talent. He quickly developed a passion for oil painting and shared many of his works with family and friends. He also used his free time to enjoy travel and ocean visits with his wife.

Arthur also won an international distinction. After over 30 years he was among the world’s longest living kidney transplant recipients, which he received from his sister Adeline.

Above all his accomplishments, Arthur considered his loving family to be the greatest. His wife of 50 years, his children and their spouses and his grandchildren were his prized possesion.

He is survived by his wife with whom he shared 50 years of marriage, Grace (Fabiano) Tarani. He leaves his children: Alex and his wife Cathy of Stoneham, James and his wife Mary Ann of Medford, Arthur and his wife Sharon of Medford, Mark and his wife Kathleen of Billerica,Lisa and her husband Ricky of Medford, Robert and his wife Amy, Gina and her husband Matthew of Medford. He leaves fourteen loving grandchildren and a dear sister Adeline Taddeo of Medford.

A Funeral Service will be celebrated Friday at 9 AM in the Chapel of the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may visit with the family, Thursday from 4 - 8.
