Obituary

Halifax – Irving S. “Bud” Hunt, son of the late Frank and Lena (Davis) Hunt was born in Brockton August 28, 1923. He was 89 years of age and died on July 22, 2013, married to Norma V. Ellis in 1984 the couple celebrated 28 years together and made their home in Halifax, formerly, he was married to the late Barbara Daniels and they had two daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Diane) Chimbur of Brockton and Mrs. Vincent (Donna) Rams of Lakeville. He leaves two granddaughters and three great grandchildren; also two living step children Dennis Waitekunas of FL. and Susan Ellis of FL; one sister Marion Schill of Middleboro and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by two sisters, Francis Davis, of Falmouth and Ruth Place of FL. and his late step daughter Marsha Francis that died in 2009 of ALS.

Graduating from Brockton High School in 1941, he joined the U.S Naval Reserves, during WWII and afterwards worked mainly in manufacturing shoe trimmings. He coached midget ice hockey and played with the Old Men’s Hockey League and golfed and bowled and often said his scores should be reversed.

Being a charter member of the Ash Street Dump Gang, he was proud of it! His retirement years were devoted to the Halifax Mobile Home Assn., serving in the capacity of President, Vice-President and chairman of various committees for over twenty years. He was willing and ready to aid in any situation and always with a smile and a dry sense of humor.

In October of 2012, he celebrated 56 years of being a mason, belonging to Paul Revere Lodge.

Mr. Hunt spent the last 4 years as a resident of the St Joseph Manor in Brockton and his family wishes to thank all the nurses, aides and other workers for their love and devotion shown to him.

His funeral service will be held Thursday July 25 at 4 PM in the Chapel of St. Joseph Manor Healthcare, 215 Thatcher Street, Brockton, MA 02302. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service from 3-4 PM. Burial will be at a later date. Donations may be made in his name to the Masonic Angel Funds (a charity for children in need in our community) Paul Revere Lodge, 279 Prospect St. Brockton, MA. 02301
