Goodman, Lea 91 of Peabody and formerly of Danvers and Chelsea passed away on July 23, 2013. Lea was born in Chelsea and attended the Chelsea School System. She was a graduate of Chelsea High School, Class of 1939. Lea taught at the Shurtleff School in Chelsea. She enjoyed flea markets, yard sales and reading. Early in her career she worked in cardiac research at the Beth Israel Hospital.
Lea was the beloved wife of the late Edward J. Goodman Jr. She was the devoted mother of Jane Golder and her husband Sheldon, and Jill Sirignano and her husband Frank. She was the loving daughter of the late Harry and Rose Caplitz. Lea was the dear sister of Dr. Israel W. Caplitz and the late Herman Caplitz. She was the loving grandmother of Matthew Golder.
Graveside services will be held at the Farband Cemetery, 16 Buxton Rd. Danvers on Thursday, July 25, 2013 at 11:00 AM. Memorial observance will be held at the home of Jane and Sheldon Golder, Thursday 2-5 PM and 7-9 PM, Friday 2-6 PM and Saturday 7-9 PM. Donations in Lea’s memory may be made to Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St. Danvers, MA 01923 or to a charity of one’s choice.
