M. Louise (Harris) Lopes, age 92, of Norton passed away surrounded by her loved ones, on Monday, July 22, 2013 at the Victorian Mansion in South Attleboro.
She was the beloved wife of the late Mariano Lopes, Jr. who died on January 12, 1994. Mr. and Mrs. Lopes were wed on August 25,1944.
Born in Wilson, North Carolina on August 11, 1920, she was a loving daughter of the late Charlie “Pete”
and Ebby (Goff) Harris. She grew up on a farm in North Carolina and was educated in North Carolina schools.
Prior to retiring, Mrs. Lopes had worked, along with her late husband at the former L.G. Balfour Co. in North Attleboro. She retired as an inspector following eighteen years of loyal service to the company.
A resident of Norton for over 55 years, Louise’s family was the focal point of her life. She treasured the times spent with her grandchildren and will always be remembered for her caring and hard working ethics.
She is survived by her devoted children, Dennis A. Lopes and his wife Jan of Texas and Betty C. Blackham and her husband Ted of Attleboro. She was the cherished grandmother of Todd W. Blackham of Norton, Tracy L. Blackham of Pawtucket and Shannon D. Draper and her husband Derek of Texas. She was the dear sister of the late Claude, George and Estelle Harris and is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral service, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Thursday, July 25th at 10:00 A.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton. Burial will follow in the North Purchase Cemetery, Attleboro.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, July 24th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home.
