Dartmouth – Angela Hackett, age 80, passed away on Monday, July 22, 2013 at home in Dartmouth, after a 12 year courageous battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of Leonard Hackett of Dartmouth with whom she shared 57 years of marriage. She was born in New Bedford, a daughter of the late Camilla (Casteleno) and the late Sabastiano DiStefano. She lived in this area all her life. Mrs. Hackett was a graduate of New Bedford High School. Angela worked as an Office Manager for Dave & Thelma’s Realty and was also an amazing cook.
Her survivors include her husband, Leonard; 2 loving children: Stephanie Hackett of Dartmouth and Lt. Peter Hackett of the USCG as well as 4 grandchildren.
Mrs. Hackett was predeceased by her siblings Mona Rita and Steven DiStefano.
Angela’s funeral will be Saturday, July 27 at Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth in New Bedford, beginning at 7:45 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church in Dartmouth at 9:00 A.M. Burial will follow at the South Dartmouth Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held in the funeral home on Friday from 4 – 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
