Obituary

Lariviere, Richard L. “Dick” of Marshfield, passed away on July 20, 2013 at the age of 81. Beloved husband of 58 years of Anne (McDonough) Lariviere. Loving father of Richard L. Lariviere Jr. and his wife D. Marie of Plymouth and Linda Strickland and her husband Ray of Ohio. Loving grandfather of Michael Massaroni and Liane Strickland of Ohio and the late Ryan J. Lariviere. Dear brother of Eloise Santella and Jean Moore, both of Marlboro and the late Rita O’Leary, Gloria Forrest, Ronald Lariviere and Paul Lariviere. Son of the late Edward and Eva (Poirier) Lariviere.
Dick was born and raised in Marlboro and a graduate of Marlboro High School. He was considered the “Ultimate Marine” by his many friends in the town of Marshfield. Dick was a major contributor in the design of the WWII Memorial on the Town Hall Green. He was the first recipient of the “Bugle Award” presented by the Board of Selectman. Dick was also a member of VFW Post 8345, the American Legion, the Amvets, the Plymouth County Police Officers Association, the Southeastern Police Chiefs Assn. and the Republican Town Committee. He was a past commander of the Lopes/Ferris Korean War Veterans Association. Dick’s proudest accomplishment was the co-founding of Freedom Wheels for the Disabled of which he was the Director. He served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War. Dick was the owner of R.L. Lariviere Co. where he worked as a contractor.
Visiting hours will be held at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean St., Rte. 139 in Marshfield on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral from the funeral home on Thursday, July 25 at 11:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 40 Canal St.in Marshfield at 12:30 p.m.
