Obituary




Richard M. Trecida, 79, formerly of Westport, passed away on Friday, July 19, 2013 at Florida Hospital-Flagler in Palm Coast, FL. He was the husband of Vivian A. (Cabral) Trecida whom he was married to for 59 years.


Born in Tiverton, son of the late Manuel P. and Mary M. (Cotta) Trecida, he had resided in Westport for over 50 years before moving to Florida. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Trecida worked as a self-employed contractor for his business R.M. Trecida Building Contractors. He was a U.S. Navy reservist. He had been Co-Chairman of the former Westport Junior Miss Committee and an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus-St. Isadore Council 4373 of Westport. He was a former member of the Westport Lions Club, Our Lady of Grace Church Senior Citizens, Westport P.A.C.L. and a former Westport assistant building inspector. He was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church, Westport. Richard will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.

Survivors along with his loving wife include his son Richard G. Trecida of FL; his 2 daughters: Brenda L. Prisco and her husband Paul of ME and Beth J. Hayes of Westport; his brother Joseph A. Trecida of Tiverton; his 2 sisters: Anne J. Aballo of Westport and Linda Tavares of Fall River; 6 grandchildren: Chad R. Trecida and his wife Lani; Kimberley N. Miser and her husband Tanner; Barry L. Hayes and his wife Ashley; Travis R. Hayes; Cori L. Prisco and Jared R. Prisco; 3 beloved great grandchildren: Jayden, Mabrey and Ryland as well as several nieces and nephews.


Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Friday, July 26, 2013 at 9:00 A.M. from the POTTER FUNERAL HOME, 81 Reed Rd., Westport followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Baptist Church, Westport at 10:00 A.M.


Calling hours will be Thursday from 5-8 P.M.


Interment will be in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
