Robert R. Histen, of Plymouth formerly of Duxbury and Dorchester, died on July 20th at the age of 86. He was the husband of the late Eleanor M. (Wallace) and is survived by his children Judith M. Finn and her husband John of S. Dennis formerly of Canton, Robert R. Histen and his wife Nancy of Plymouth and Christine M. Sanna and her husband William of Plymouth formerly of Duxbury. He also leaves his cherished grandchildren John Finn and his wife Marion of Scituate, Amie Digirolamo and her husband Greg of Canton, Gavin Histen and his wife Savannah of Hopkinton, Kelsey Salema and her husband Derek of Wilbraham and Corie O’Neil and her husband Brian of South Boston and his great grandchildren Elizabeth and Juliet Finn; Jack and Isabel Digirolamo; Emily Salema and Merrick Robert Histen.
Bob was born in Boston and had worked for the rail road before joining the Boston Police where he worked for over 20 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus where he was a 4th degree and a former Grand Knight. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 40 in Plymouth where he was the past historian and a member of the color guard.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, July 23rd at the Richard Davis Funeral Home, 373 Court St (Rt 3A), N. Plymouth from 4 to 8 PM. A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, July 24th at Holy Family Church in Duxbury at 10 AM followed by burial at Mayflower Cemetery in Duxbury. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center, 55 Fruit St, Boston, MA 02114.
