Martinez, GA – Ritz Ann Reeves, 62, wife of 42 years to Gene Reeves, entered into rest on Saturday, July 20, 2013.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 PM on Monday, July 22, 2013 at Platt’s Funeral Home Belair Rd. Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at New Union Methodist Church in Sheffield, NC.
Ritz was born in West Jefferson, NC to the late Guy and Mary Lyon. She worked for many years at Augusta Back and was in charge of scheduling surgeries for patients. During her time at Augusta Back, she built many meaningful relationships and made an impact on those she was caring for. An avid bird watcher, Ritz enjoyed spending time at the Phinizy Swamp in Augusta and identifying different species. Ritz loved spending time with her family. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
In addition to her husband, survivors include her son, Greg Reeves and wife Deann of Spartanburg, SC, her daughter, Keena Reeves of Augusta, GA, three sisters, Terry Markland, Patricia Carter, Debbie Chaffin, three grandchildren, Bailey Reeves, Xander Reeves, and Wesley Lainer.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 Pm on Monday, July 22, 2013 at the funeral home.
Ritz had a deep appreciation for the outdoors. She found comfort and peace in the Phinizy Swamp Nature Park where she could watch the birds. In honor of Ritz, the family asks that memorials be made to the Southeastern Natural Sciences Academy, 1858 Lock & Dam Rd., Augusta, GA 30906.
