Obituary

Raymond R. Tyler, 83, formerly of Ocilla, died Saturday, August 28, 2004, at his home in Houston, Texas.

Funeral services will be 2 P.M. Thursday, September 2, 2004, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Ocilla, with Rev. Gerald Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in Ocilla Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 P.M. Wednesday.

Mr. Tyler was born April 29, 1921, in Ocilla, Georgia, to the late Walter Eugene Tyler and Lula Harper Tyler. A long-time resident of Winter Haven, Florida, he was an Area Credit Manager for Sears for many years after which he opened his own credit agency. Mr. Tyler was a veteran of World War II, having flown 25 missions over Germany in an Air Force B-24 bomber and leaving the service as a Staff Sergeant. He attended Second Baptist Church in Houston, TX and Ocilla Baptist Church in Ocilla, Georgia.

Mr. Tyler is survived by his wife of 56 years, Eloise Turner Tyler of Houston; two daughters and sons-in-law: Jeanne and Chuck Propst, Lake Wales, FL and Ellen and Red Rochelle, Houston, TX; 4 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; one sister: De Alva Fabian, Athens, GA. Two brothers, Marion Tyler and J.W. Tyler, preceded him in death.
