Helen T. (Gorman) O'Keefe, a 43 year resident of Medford and formerly of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Friday, July 19, 2013 at her home in Medford following a lengthy illness. She was 86 years old.
Helen was born in Boston on March 12, 1927, a daughter of the late John Gorman and Catherine (McLaughlin) Gorman. Helen grew up in Charlestown where she attended Boston Public Schools and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1946. She worked as an operator for New England Telephone Company for more than 20 years. Helen was a homemaker and enjoyed the special times that she could spend with her family.
Helen is the beloved wife of the late William J. O'Keefe. She is the devoted mother of Mary Pat Troisi and her husband Andrew of Everett, William J. O'Keefe Jr. and his wife Lauren of Medford, Sally O'Keefe and her companion Paul Wisdom of Somerville and Thomas O'Keefe of Medford. She is the loving Grandma to Devin, Liam, Riley, Lyndsay, Colin, Emily and Katirose. She is the beloved sister of John Gorman and his wife Peggy of Tewksbury, Catherine Duerr and her husband Robert of Methuen and the late Margaret Fletcher, Sally Zannino, Thomas Gorman and James Gorman. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Helen's Funeral on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at 7:30 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Joseph's Church, 118 High St. Medford at 9 A.M. Interment at Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford. Visiting hours Monday, July 22, 2013 from 4 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
