Obituary

Jeanette McCook Freeman, 85, of Osteen, Florida, formerly of Fitzgerald, died Friday, July 19, 2013, at her residence in Osteen, Florida.

Graveside services will be held 2 PM, Sunday, July 21, 2013, at Mt Olive Baptist Church Cemetery, Ben Hill County, with the Rev. Cecil Burkett officiating.

Mrs. Freeman was born May 17, 1928 in Fitzgerald, Georgia to the late Jacob R. and Sallie Young McCook. She was a former meat packer/wrapper having worked for Henry’s Foods in Apopka, Florida as well as Winn-Dixie and Orlando Foods. She lived the greater part of her life in Florida having returned to Fitzgerald in 2006. Following the death of her husband in January of this year, she moved to Florida to live with her daughter. She was a member of Faith Baptist church in Fitzgerald. Mrs. Freeman was a great cook and was known to bake her special peach cobblers and pecan pies to give to her friends.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law: Sally & David Rust of Osteen, Florida; stepchildren and their spouses: Kathy &Billy Joe Alexander of Waynesville, Vernon Johns of Darien, and Laurie & Chris Hunter of Brunswick; four grandchildren: Nicole Dobbs, Heather Dobbs, Michael Dobbs, and Kassi Rust; and a great-grandson: Johnathan Dobbs. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Frank W. Freeman, Sr.; five brothers; and two sisters.
