Donna Burke Rakestraw, age 77, died Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at the Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, TN. She was born January 12, 1936 in Lafayette County, MS to the late James Melton and Dovie Champion Burke. Donna was a homemaker, and an active member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Water Valley, loved her Sunday school class and was a member of a Bible study class there. Donna loved reading and watching sports on TV, especially football, basketball and baseball.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm Friday, July 19, 2013 at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. A graveside service will be held immediately following visitation at 3:00 pm in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Water Valley with Bro. James Allen officiating.
Donna is survived by her brothers, Kenneth Burk (Jean) of Collierville, TN and Jodie Burks of Water Valley, MS; two nieces, Pam Montgomery of Saltillo, MS and Jeri Anne Davis of Newton, MS; two nephews, Kenneth Burk, Jr. of Memphis, TN and Damon Burks of Water Valley, MS.
In addition to her parents, Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Rakestraw.
