Frank S. Tarr, 84, died Sunday, July 14, 2013 in the Essex Park Nursing & Rehab. Center following a lengthy illness. He was the loving husband of Barbara (Karonis) Tarr, with whom he shared sixty years of marriage.
Born in Wenham on July 7, 1929, he was the son of Raymond and Eunice (Cook) Tarr. He was raised and educated in Beverly and was a graduate of Beverly High School. He went on to study at Norwich University and later graduated from Northeastern University.
He was employed for many years as an electrical engineer with Varian and later with Microwave Associates. Prior to his retirement, he worked in electronic sales.
An avid golfer, he was a longtime member at Wenham Country Club. He was a member of the Touchdown Club of Danvers for many years and a past president of the Catholic Mr. & Mrs. Club of Danvers.
In addition to his wife, he leaves two children, Wayne Tarr and his wife Anne of Danvers and Leslie Mitting and her husband Robert of Bloomington, IN, four siblings, Raymond Tarr Jr. of Wenham, Russell Tarr of Beverly, Norma Rousseau of Mendon, and Janice Defort of FL, five grandchildren, Shannon Moore, Meredith Southern, Daniel Tarr, Rachel Keohane, and Sarah Tarr, three great-grandchildren, Melanie, Daphne, and Kailyn, and several nieces and nephews.
The Tarr family is grateful to the staff at Essex Park for the care they gave Frank during his illness.
His Funeral Service will be Friday, July 19, 2013 at 10AM in C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Thursday from 5-8PM in the funeral home. Burial is private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
