Obituary

Paul E. Heinze, 73, of Windham, NH died July 15th at Merrimack Valley Hospice House, Haverhill, MA after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born in the family homestead on Prospect Hill, Lawrence, MA, April 17, 1940, the son of the late Walter C. and Mildred (Hartmann) Heinze.

Paul was a graduate of Lawrence High School, Class of 1957, and attended Coyne Electrical School. He retired from Lucent Technologies, AT & T, Western Electric. He was a founding officer of Christian Fellowship Church of the Merrimack Valley and a member of the Cobbett’s Pond Improvement Association.

He was very close to his extensive family and enjoyed a lifetime of summers with them at Cobbett’s Pond, swimming, boating and cooking on the grill. Paul enjoyed tending his vegetable gardens and his lawn. He loved travels, winters in Florida, dancing the polka, skiing, tennis, playing cards and his model train layout. Paul will be remembered by his friends for his comic wit and as an excellent party host.

Paul is survived by his devoted wife Beatrice (Jodaitis) (Hering) Heinze of Windham, NH;
Two daughters, Holly L. Collican and husband Joseph of Syracuse, NY and Heidi K. Janson of North Andover, MA;
Six stepchildren, all of Beverly, MA, Karl Hering and wife Linda, Edward Hering, Laura Maskell and husband Jeffrey, James Hering and wife Elizabeth, Donna Davies and husband Bryan and Daniel Hering;
His three siblings, Robert W. Heinze of Lawrence, MA, Elizabeth A. and husband Dr. James F. Rhodes of Salem, NH and Carolyn M. Perrault and husband Robert of Bonita Springs, FL;
Five grandchildren, Annibel, Noelle and Haylei Coolican of Syracuse, NY and Brianna and Christian Janson of North Andover, MA;
Six step grandchildren in Beverly, MA, Philip and Christopher Maskell, Benjamin and Alyssa Hering and Brooke and Reid Davies;
And many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are Thursday, July 18th from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main Street, Salem, NH 03079. The Funeral Service will be Friday at 10:00AM at the Funeral Home. Cremation will follow.

Paul loved the Town of Windham and was currently interested in preserving the bell tower at Searles School and Chapel, where he wed Beatrice in 2002.
