Obituary


Donald R.Gough SR., 81 of Halifax passed away on Sunday June 9, after a lengthy illness.

Don was born in Milton and raised in the Quincy school systems where he graduated in 1951. Don had a passion for baseball and was an All-Star pitcher who played varsity baseball for Quincy High school and multiple baseball leagues in the Quincy area.


Don had a love for animals and worked on his family's horse farm in his earlier years, then enlisted in the National Guard and was part of the team deployed to Worcester during the hurricane.


Don married his childhood sweetheart in1958 and raised his family in Abington where he worked as a lithographer in the printing industry and retired from Winthrop Press. Don's accomplishments were many and his greatest was being a loving father to his son Donnie and husband of 54 years to his wife Carol.


Don was a cherished friend to those who knew him and father figure to many. Don enjoyed dining out and was an avid sports fan.


Don was the loving husband of Carol A. (Kemp) Gough and loving father of Donnie R. Gough JR. who pre-deceased his dad. Don was brother to Carol (Gough) Chase of Whitman, brother in law of Carl and Diane Kemp of Mashpee, who both pre- deceased Don. Deborah Martinelli and her husband James of Middleboro, and Debra Babcock and her husband Richard of Mashpee,
Don was the loving uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Don's quote from his high school yearbook best describes his earlier years as an accomplished baseball player and family man, and now to final journey of a man that is much loved and will be missed by all” And now the pitcher holds the ball, and now its time to let go."



Funeral services will be private.
