Michael Andrew Telfer, 50, of North Truro, formerly of Provincetown, one of a set of twins born to Owen & Viola Telfer in the parish of Kingston on the island of Jamaica, West Indies on November 15, 1962 died peacefully surrounded by his extended family on July 8, 2013 at Cape Cod Hospital.
He was schooled through High School in Jamaica where he graduated in June 1980. Michael was always a free spirited individual who loved life and believed in living for today not knowing if tomorrow is promised to you. His laughter was contagious. He was active in church where he was a member of the boys club and sang on the choir. Michael had a love & appreciation for good music. He was also an athlete and ran track in High School. Along with his twin sister Michelle, he migrated to the United States of America on July 25, 1980 to join his mother, Viola, who had left Jamaica a few years earlier seeking a better life for her children. He embraced the change and resided in the Bronx, New York & Newark, New Jersey where he worked in banking, law & entertainment seeking to find what made him happiest.
Still not feeling quite at home, Michael continued his pursuit traveling the Northeast scoping out places he could one day really call home. In 1993 he visited Provincetown, Massachusetts and immediately fell in love with what the town had to offer. It was a tough decision for Michael to move so far from his immediate family but he had to do what made him happiest. After moving to Provincetown, he met his partner of almost 20 years David Owens. Michael truly lived life touching many lives along the way with his sense of humor, a smile, a dance/performance or just being Michael until his passing on July 8, 2013.
