Alfonso Quiroz was born on November 25th 1918, in Leon, Guanajuato. Orphaned as a result of Spanish Flu pandemic, and the devastating effects of the Mexican Revolution, Alfonso was taken in by his caring Godfather and Grandmother. He enrolled and entered a Mexican Military Academy; furthermore, he went on to serve in the Mexican Calvary and held a rank of Captain. He immigrated to the United States in 1950. It was in Ventura, California that he met Isabel Pimentel, whom he would wed and love for over 57 years. With his wife, Alfonso begat 4 children. Alfonso (Maricela) Quiroz, Amelia (Jose) Gonzalez, Armando (Christina) Quiroz and Angel (Marieanne) Quiroz. He was a loving, caring man, instilling strong values upon his family. Over the years, Alfonso would welcome 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren into this world. Alfonso was devoted to God, and God blessed him with an amazing family. He was a parishioner at Our Lady of the Assumption where he served as an usher and President of the Guadalupana Association. He worked at Abex Aerospace Corporation and Peoples Lumber. He was a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electronic, Oil, Chemical and Atomic Workers Union. He was loved and respected by the people whose lives he touched, and he will be forever remembered warmheartedly.
Friends and Family are invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday evening July 16, 2013 from 4 to 8pm at Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home 757 E. Main Street Ventura with a Rosary service at 6:30PM. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday July 17, 2013 at 10AM in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Ventura. Interment will follow in Ivy Lawn Memorial Park.
