Obituary

Thomas C. Fahey Jr. of West Roxbury B.P.D. (Ret.) passed away on July 11, 2013. He was 90 years old.

Born and raised in Jamaica Plain, Tom was a graduate of Mechanic Arts High School. From there he worked as a machinist until joining the US Army Air Corps during World War II. He was stationed overseas in the Pacific for twenty-nine months and eventually was discharged with the rank of Sergeant. Following in his father's footsteps, Tom joined the Boston Police Department, became a member of the Drill Team and served as a police officer for twenty-eight years. Following his time on the BPD, Tom worked at the Gardner Museum in Boston.

In his spare time, Tom enjoyed reading, watching movies and telling stories and jokes to family and friends. He attended classes at the Institute for Learning in Retirement at Boston College and was very active in the St. Bartholomew Senior Social Club.

Thomas was the dear and devoted husband of the late Marian (Bishop) Fahey. They were married for fifty-six years and enjoyed traveling together to Oregon, Ireland, Cape Cod, Kennebunkport, Bermuda and the Bahamas. After the passing of his beloved Marian he moved to Oregon to be near his children and grandchildren. He was an avid weather watcher and he appreciated Oregon's milder climate. Tom enjoyed spending time with family and corresponding with family and friends back home.

Tom was the Loving father of Thomas C. Fahey III and his wife Karen of OR and Paula F. Fahey and her husband Brian Smith of OR. Cherished grandfather of Colin and Liam Fahey of OR. Dear brother of Mary Schwarzer of Germany, Laurence Fahey B.P.D. (Ret.) of West Roxbury and the late John Fahey, Frank Fahey B.P.D. (Ret.) and Joseph Fahey. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Thomas' Funeral Mass was celebrated July 19, 2013 at St. Bartholomew Church in Needham.
