Obituary

Evans, GA – Col. Betty R. Landen, 84, entered into rest on Tuesday, July 2, 2013.

A graveside service will be held at 9:30 AM on Friday, July 19, 2013 in Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA. A memorial service will be held at 3:30 PM on Friday, July 19, 2013 at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Augusta, GA with Rev. Ed Rees officiating.

Betty was born in Springfield, MA to the late Evalona J. Darling and the late William J. Landen. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Springfield College and her Physical Therapy Certification from the Baruch Center of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Medical College of Virginia in 1953. Betty would later earn her Master’s degree from the Leland Stanford Junior University in 1963 and her PhD from Georgia State University in 1977. Betty was also a proud veteran and retired from the Unites States Army with the rank of Colonel. She was a faculty member of the Baylor University Graduate program in Physical Therapy and also a professor and department head at the School of Physical Therapy, University of Texas-Galveston.

Survivors include two sisters, Sherri L. Garafolo and Renee Landen, one nephew, Jeffrey Landen, and many other extended family members. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her brother, the late William J. Landen.
