METHUEN – William J. Toomey, 101 a lifelong resident of Methuen, passed away Wednesday July 10, 2013 at home in Methuen, MA with his loving family by his side.
Born and educated in Methuen, he was the son of Edward J. and Mary T. (Grogan) Toomey (Twomey). He attended Essex Agricultural School in Danvers, MA and worked all his life as a dairy farmer until his retirement.
He was the former President of the Methuen Board of Trade and financial secretary. He was also the former chairman of the Methuen Christmas tree lighting program. William enjoyed caring for his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his family.
The widower of Rita (Howard) Toomey, he is survived by his four sons, William P. and his wife Shirley of Methuen, MA, Raymond and his wife Diane also of Methuen, MA, John and wife Patricia of Salem, NH and Michael and his wife Stacy of Newfield, ME and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
