Obituary

MARLBOROUGH: John W. P. Young, Jr., 75, died comfortably and peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, July 8, 2013 at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester following a brief illness.
He was born in the family residence in Weston on October 12, 1937 the son of the late John W.P. Young and Bridget T. (Ahern) Young.
John is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 21 years, Carolyn (Jenne) Young of Marlborough. He was the cherished father of Lisa A. Young of Marlborough; Mark A. Young of Marlborough and Kristen M. Cappello and her husband James Cappello of Marlborough. He was the step-father of Charles A. House and his wife Catherine House of Maynard and Matthew J. House and his wife Lucy House of Averill Park, New York. Brother of Paul F. Young of Weston; Emma E. Colcord of Southborough; Margaret E. Young of Marlborough; Theresa M. Tuttle of Gilmanton, NH and the late Louis J. Young. Also survived by 3 grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, his mother-in-law Elaine Jenne of Watertown, brother-in-law of Suzanne Johnson and her husband James Johnson of Watertown. Also survived by his former wife Joanne Sauer and her husband Gerald Sauer of Warren.
John spent his formative years in Weston and resided in Sudbury for 13 years before moving to Marlborough 8 years ago. He was educated through the Weston Public Schools and retired in 2000 after over 31 years as a Firefighter-EMT with the Sudbury Fire Department. John was as CPR and EMT instructor for many years through the fire department. He was also the proprietor for 35 years of the Weston Disposal Service. He was proud of his Irish heritage and returned many times to Ireland with his family and friends. John also enjoyed the back roads of Vermont and spending time with his wife and family at their Vermont cottage. He was an avid card player and enjoyed playing poker every Thursday night with friends. He had a fondness for antique trucks and tractors and also spending time fishing with his grandsons. He was an outgoing guy who always found pleasure being around people and a loving and devoted family man who always put his family first. He will be greatly missed by everyone.
Visitations will be held on Sunday, July 14, 2013 from 3:00 to 7:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Rte 30), Wayland.
Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Monday, July 15, 2013 at 9:00 AM followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Julia’s Church, 374 Boston Post Road, Weston.
Private family interment will be held in the Young family lot in Linwood Cemetery.
