Obituary

Elizabeth “Betty-Rose” Karam
Our beloved Mom, Nana, Sister, Aunt and friend went home to be with the Lord on July 7, 2013, surrounded by her family in NC.
Elizabeth was born June 9, 1933, in Lawrence, Mass. She was a graduate of Lawrence High School. She attended Salem State College and Boston University. She worked with children for many years but her passion and dedication was to her family. Her love for them was immeasurable.
Elizabeth enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and doing volunteer work. She loved to dance and was always the first one on the floor moving to the music. While she loved all forms of dance, she was an award winning Belly Dancer, embracing her Lebanese heritage in addition to being a proud Italian.
Elizabeth had an amazing zest for life, young at heart, and an undying love for her family. She was dedicated to helping others, spending much of her time volunteering for many organizations including the National MS Society, the American Cancer Society, and a Safe House for battered women and children. Elizabeth is preceded in death by her beloved mother, Josephine Cavarra, her father John Karam, and her brother-in-law Brian Caldwell, whom she adored.
Elizabeth was loved and will be greatly missed by her children, Andrea (Rosa) Pelczar of Danville, NH, and Cynthia (Rosa) Montello, of Surf City, NC, her sons-in-law Mark Pelczar and Patrick Montello Sr., grandchildren Sharon Pelczar, Patrick Montello, Jr and Nick Montello, as well as her great-grandchildren Abel, Sage, and Sylah Orta. She is also survived by her beloved sister, Rosemarie Caldwell of Reston, VA. She will forever be in our hearts.
In lieu of flowers, Elizabeth requests donations be made in her memory to the National MS Society, the American Cancer Society or to the wonderful people who helped provide her unending love, care and comfort until the very end, Continuum Hospice, c/o Foundation for Hospice, 3391 Henderson Drive, Jacksonville, NC 28546.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated in the Corpus Christi Church, Union and Essex Street, Lawrence on Saturday, July 13, 2013, at 10 AM. Many relatives and friends were in attendance. Calling hours were held in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover, Friday, July 12, 2013, from 5 to 7 PM. Interment was in St. Mary Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Lawrence.
