Roger L. LeClerc, 71

Dateline: Norton, MA

Roger L. LeClerc, age 71, of Norton passed away surrounded by his loving family, following a courageous battle with cancer, on Sunday, July 7, 2013 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. He was the beloved thirty year companion of Charliene F. Barboza of Norton.
He was born in Smithfield, Rhode Island on February 16, 1942 and had grown up and was educated in Sharon.
Prior to retiring, Mr. LeClerc had been employed for several years in various capacities at the Raynham/Taunton Dog Track. He had formerly worked for 25 years for the John Hancock Life Insurance Co. and at the same time also at the former Foxboro Raceway. When younger, one of Roger’s first jobs was at the former First National Grocery Store.
A resident of Norton for the past 38 years, Roger truly was one who loved the great outdoors and was a member of the Wankinquoah Club in Middleboro. He enjoyed hunting with friends in Maine, and especially fishing locally with his adoring grandchildren.
In addition to his companion Charliene, he is survived by his devoted children, Russell J. LeClerc of Attleboro, Pamela J. LeClerc-Bovey and her husband Charles of Mansfield, Michelle R. Cronin and her husband John of Hanson, and Scott C. Barboza of Middleboro. He was the cherished grandfather of James and Joshua LeClerc, Emma, Cameron and Olivia Bovey, and Timothy, Joseph and Holly Cronin. He was predeceased by his wife Suzanne LeClerc, his sister Shirley Laczynski, and is also survived by his former wife Charlene Zabrowski of Foxboro.
His funeral service, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Thursday, July 11th at 11:00 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield. Burial will follow in the Timothy Plain Cemetery in Norton.
Visitation will be held on Thursday morning prior to the services beginning at 10:00 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, Mr. LeClerc’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the Oncology Dept. at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital, 211 Park St., Attleboro, MA 02703.
