Domingos Gomes Jr., age 85, of Somerset passed away July 8, 2013. He was the husband of Dorothy (Dennis) Gomes for 64 years, and the son of the late Domingos and Ida (Simão) Gomes Sr. Prior to retiring, Domingos worked as a supervisor at Calvin Clothing, and previously as a Supervisor with AMTRAK Maintenance for High Speed Rail. He was a US Navy Veteran of WWII, and the Korean War, a life member of the VFW of Tiverton, a member of the AmVets and the Masonic Temple of Somerset, and a parishioner St. John of God Church in Somerset.
Besides his wife, he is survived by 2 children: Robert Gomes (wife Veronica) of Tiverton RI, and Deborah Barreira (husband John) of Somerset MA; 3 grandchildren: Catherine Destremps (husband Robert), Robert J. Gomes (companion Liz), & John Paul Barreira (wife Bernadette); 3 great grandchildren: Michaela, Mackenzie, and Garrett Barreira; several nieces and nephews. Domingos was also the brother of the late Antone, Manuel and Roland Gomes.
His funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME 1521 N. Main St., Fall River FRIDAY 9 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. John of God Church 10 A.M.
