William R. “Bill” Hamilton. 72, of Abington, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on July 6th, after a long illness.
He was born in Weymouth, son of the late William E. and Patricia C. (Lyons) Hamilton.
Bill has been a lifelong resident of Abington, a graduate of Abington High School and was a very active member of the Abington community.
He retired from the Local 25 Teamsters Union after driving a truck for Texaco for 22 years. After his retirement he worked for Rosen Realty in sales for 10 years.
Bill enjoyed being with his children and grandchildren and loved his dog Bosco.
He is survived by his children, Brenda M. Curry and her husband Mark, of Mattapoisett, Donna J. Leavens of Abington, and William E. Hamilton and his wife Robin of Whitman, his brother Richard Hamilton of Vermont, his sister Judith McLaughlin of Plymouth, his grandchildren, Lauren Langton, Jessica Leavens, Nicholas Curry, Katie and Kyle Hamilton; also 1 niece and 1 nephew, former husband of Judith Hamilton
His services will be held on Wednesday July 10th at 10:30AM, in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth St., (Rte. 58 at the Rotary circle) Whitman. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be on Tuesday July 9th from 4:00-8:00PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Brockton Blue Dog Shelter, 1014 Pearl St, Brockton, MA. 02301.
