Obituary

Rochester – Florence J. (Snell) Taylor, 93, of Rochester died at home after a long illness on August 24, 2004. She was the wife of Floyd W. Taylor; they were married for 53 years.

Mrs. Taylor was born in Rochester, daughter of the late Isaiah H. “Burt” Snell and Lillian F. (Howland) Snell, and resided in Rochester all of her life. She was a graduate of Wareham High School. She was a member of the Long Plain Baptist Church, Acushnet. She was employed for many years as a night school teacher at the New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School and later worked in maintenance for Sippican Inc., Marion until her retirement.

Mrs. Taylor enjoyed sewing, knitting, Japanese bunker, cake decorating, gardening and traveling.

In addition to her widower, she is survived by a son: Charles Denault of Syracuse, NY; a daughter: Janice Cocking of Montgomery, AL; 2 step-sons: Edward Taylor of Chicago, IL and Warren Taylor of Florida; 2 step-daughters: Patricia Tilton of New Bedford and Carol Ann Taylor of Rochester; a sister: Mary T. Denault of Raynham; many grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; 2 great great-grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews.

She was sister of the late Herbert H. Snell and step-mother of the late Webster Taylor.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend:

Calling hours Friday, August 27, 2004, 6-8 P.M. and Saturday, August 28, 2004, 6-8 P.M.

At the request of the family, funeral services will be private.
