New Bedford – Dolores M. Oliveira, age 84, passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at her daughter’s home in New Bedford after a courageous battle with cancer. Mrs. Oliveira was the beloved widow of Ernesto Oliveira who passed away in March of 2012. She was born Sao Miguel, Açores, a daughter of Maria Teresa (Reis) and Manuel Oliveira. She and her family moved to this country in 1966 where she worked as a Stitcher for many years. Mrs. Oliveira was a devoted communicant of St. John the Baptist Church.
Her survivors includes her 4 children: Joe Oliveira and his wife, Sharon, of Dartmouth, Zinalia Oliveira of Worcester, Ma, Margaret DeBarros and her husband, Paul, of Taunton and Grace Hall and her husband, Terry, of New Bedford; 5 siblings: the late Elba Melo, the late Elizabeth Camboia, the late Idalia Medeiros, Linda Ferriera of New Bedford and the late Manuel Oliveira; as well as 7 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Oliveira’s funeral will be Tuesday, July 9 at 8:00 A.M. at Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church on Tuesday at 9:00 A.M. Burial will follow at Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held in the funeral home on Monday evening from 5 – 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
