TEWKSBURY - Francis William “Frank” McCusker, age 82, the former head of custodians,maintenance and grounds for the entire Tewksbury School Department, died Tuesday afternoonat Saints Memorial Hospital in Lowell after a long period of declining health. He was the husbandof Jeanette E. (Aubut) McCusker, with whom he had celebrated a 60th wedding anniversary thispast May 30th.
He was born in Lowell, Aug. 30, 1921, a son of the late John and Marguerite (Hession)McCusker. He attended Lowell schools, and graduated Lowell High School. He served in theCivilian Conservation Corps in Vermont in his earlier years.
During WWII, he served stateside in the U.S. Army.
He moved to Tewksbury in 1944, and later joined the Tewksbury School Department’s custodialstaff. He retired as the Department Head for Custodial, Maintenance and Grounds for the entireschool system.
He was a former Vice-Commander of the E.N. Rogers D.A.V. Post in Lowell, and was acommunicant of St. William’s Church in Tewksbury for the last 60 years. In his earlier years, healso coached Little League for more than a decade.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Janeen and her husband ChuckTibbetts of Tewksbury, Maureen and her husband Thomas Nagle of Hudson, NH; three sons anda daughter-in-law, Francis W. McCusker and James McCusker both of Tewksbury, John and hiswife Katherine (Johnson) McCusker of Lowell; seven grandchildren, Jonathan and PatrickMcCusker, Dr. William Tibbetts, Laura Connell all of Tewksbury, Adam Nagle of Manchester,NH, Jennifer Marzolini, and Emily Nagle of Hudson, NH; 6 great grandchildren; and numerousnieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was also brother of the late Marguerite Penney, John McCusker and Mary Mikalopos.
His Funeral Mass was celebrated Saturday, Aug. 28, in St. William’s Church, Tewksbury. Interment was in TewksburyCemetery.
