Obituary

West Gloucester: Deborah C. (Palk) Woundy, 57, passed away early Wednesday morning, July 3, 2013, at the Addison Gilbert Hospital, following an extended illness. She was the wife of the late Daniel P. Woundy, who passed away in June of 1998. They had shared thirteen years of marriage.
Born in Gloucester on March 28, 1956, Debbie was the daughter of the late William E., Jr. and Ruth (Blatchford) Palk. A lifelong resident of Gloucester, she was a graduate of Gloucester High School Class of 1974 and North Shore Community College in 2012, where she earned an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education. For many years, she was a devoted Church Council member and Deacon at the West Gloucester Trinitarian Congregational Church.
Loving children, Debbie was employed for the past ten years as a teacher at Pathways for Children. In addition, she was frequently a last-minute babysitter for family and friends who trusted her loving touch. She will be sorely missed by her young nieces and nephews and the children at Pathways whose lives she touched.
She is survived by her three sons, Justin M., Matthew R., and Ryan D. Woundy; her three brothers, William E. Palk, III and his wife Wendy, David E. Palk and his wife Nina, and Robert E. Palk and his wife Kate; an aunt, Natalie A. Wheeler; a sister-in-law, Mary Marques and two brothers-in-law, Richard H. Woundy, and his wife Donna and David W. Woundy, and his wife Constance; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday morning, July 9th, in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester at 9:30 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Monday, July 8th from 4 to 8 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Interment will be held in the Dolliver Memorial Cemetery, 13-15 Lincoln Street, Gloucester. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the West Gloucester Trinitarian Congregational Church, 468 Essex Avenue, Gloucester or Pathways for Children, 29 Emerson Ave., Gloucester, MA 01930.
