FALL RIVER…Daniel Charles Astle Sr., 80, of Fall River passed away June 29, 2013 at Charlton Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.
Born in Fall River, he was a son of the late Frederick and Lauretta (Carrier) Astle and had lived in the Fall River/Westport area for his entire life. He was the spouse of Pauline (Landry) Astle.
Mr. Astle served in the UNITED STATES NAVY. He also served in the UNITED STATES ARMY as a Tank Mechanic during the Korean conflict. He was a member of Gold Card Local #3 Brick layers Union, Down Shifters of New England, Auto Racing Club, Seekonk Speedway, Air Craft Owners & Pilots Association, Bristol County Snow Riders, Life Member High Hill Fox & Coon Club, New England Mustang Car Club, enjoyed rebuilding old mustangs and he was a former pilot and race car driver.
Survivors include his wife, two Sons: Daniel C. Astle Jr. and his wife Susan, Steven Astle both of Fall River, a Daughter: Melanie Astle of Melbourne, FL, 3 Brothers: Robert Astle of Fall River, Richard Astle and Jon Astle both of Westport, 7 Grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Frederick Astle.

Service to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Saturday at 8:30 AM at SOUTH COAST FUNERAL HOME, 1555 Pleasant St. Fall River, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM at Holy Name Church, Hanover St, Fall River. Burial will be PRIVATE Calling Hours will be held Friday from 5 – 8PM.
