Alfio “Fred” Fichera, 91, a resident of Lawrence died on July 1st 2013, at the Mary Immaculate Nursing and Restorative Center. He was former Lawrence High School graduate, and had attended Wentworth Institute in Boston.
He was born on November 9, 1921 in Lawrence to Luigi and Giuseppina (Contarino) Fichera. Married to his loving wife Mary (Somma) Fichera of 65 years, a son Stephen Fichera and his wife Deborah both formerly of Lawrence a daughter Janet M. Fichera of Methuen, a brother Peter Fichera of Connecticut, a sister Nancy Consoli of Lawrence a brother-in-law Dante Somma a sister-in-law Edna Somma both of Salisbury, and several nieces and nephews grandnieces grandnephews, cousins and friends.
Fred had been very fond of gardening and animals especially his beloved dog Charlie Brown, he also was a talented craftsman in which he enjoyed woodworking, carpentry, wood carving and small tabletop masonry structures. He was a meticulous pattern-maker in the clothing industry for forty years. He was a devoted and generous husband and father.
ARRANGEMENTS: An hour a visitation will be held on Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home Inc 122 Amesbury Street Lawrence Massachusetts followed by funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. A graveside service will follow.
