Obituary

Anna B. (Johnson) Vanderwal, 91, of Franklin died July 1 in Kindred Transitional Care in Franklin. She was the wife of the late Lester B. Vanderwal.
Born in Jumonsville, Pennsylvania, August 4, 1921, the daughter of the late John W. and Florence (Morgan) Johnson, Mrs. Vanderwal was raised in Pennsylvania and had lived in the Islington section of Westwood for many years prior to moving to Franklin six years ago. Mrs. Vanderwal had been active in the Circle Group of the Islington Community Church. She had also been a brownie leader.
Mrs. Vanderwal enjoyed drawing, sewing, cooking, baking, gardening and family get togethers.
Mrs. Vanderwal served in the Army during World War II.
She is survived by her daughters Jacqueline Troiano of Sharon and JoAnn Wright of Franklin.
She was the mother of the late Jeraldine Nelson.
She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Her funeral service will be held on Saturday July 6 the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 3 Barber Street in Medway at noon.
Burial will be in New Westwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Saturday from 10:00-Noon.
In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s’ Association 480 pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
