Obituary

PEABODY — Paul Gardner, 65, of Peabody, formerly of Auburn, NH, died June 29 after a lengthy illness at the Aviv Center for Living in Peabody. Born in Fitchburg, he was the son of the late Victor and Lorraine (Billings) Gardner and the husband of the late Amelia (Almeida) Gardner.

He was a graduate of Fitchburg High School and Fitchburg State College. He was a Board Member of the Listening Place in Lynn, former employee of the Mass General Physician’s Organization as an Associate Director and Vice President of the Bank of NH. In later years, he received a degree in Clinical Pastoral Education. He volunteered at the Aviv Center for Living while in residence at the assisted living facility. He also dedicated his life in serving as Chaplain in All Saints Center, Lowell.

We wish to thank the Jewish Community at Aviv and all those who attended to his loving care and the people of North Shore Hospice and the support from those members of Saint Medical Center of Lowell.

He is survived by his mother-in-law, Eva M. Almeida of Lynn, sister-in-law Olga A. Almeida and her husband William Sutherland of Fairfield, CT, his uncle Rev. Alfonze Ferreira OFM, Director of the Listening Place of Lynn, nephew William Sullivan Jr., and a niece Laura Sullivan of Fairfield, CT. Also Paul’s friend Jeff Smarse and his family.

Service Information: Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in Saint Anne CHurch, 292 Jefferson Ave., Salem on Tuesday at 10 a.m. Burial will be held in St. Bernard Cemetery, Fitchburg.
