Elsie R. (Costa) Winsper, 89, of New Bedford died Saturday June 29, 2013 at Our Lady's Haven after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Joseph A. Winsper.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late David and Julia (Roderick) Costa, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church.
She volunteered making rosary beads for the community.
Survivors include her seven children, Joseph Winsper, Jr. and his wife Mary, John Winsper, Kathleen Saulnier and her husband Daniel, Rosemary Winsper, Louise Abrantes and her husband Dennis, Elaine Hunt and her husband Robert, and James Winsper and his wife Karen; her siblings, Dr. David Costa, Jr., Albert Costa, Daniel Costa, Sr. Mary Kateri, R.S.M., Julia Pires, and Elizabeth Martins; 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Gilbert Costa, Elaine Ferreira, Agnes Guay and Joseph Costa.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 9:30 AM at St. Mary's Church, Tarkiln Hill Road. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday from 4-8PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford.
