Generoso P “Joe” Todisco, of Medford, a survivor of the attack on Pearl Harbor, died Wednesday at home he was 96.
Mr. Todisco was born and raised in East Boston, the son of the late Vincenzo and Mildred Todisco. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps and was stationed at Pearl Harbor when it was attacked on December 7, 1941. He served throughout the Pacific during the war, including Guadalcanal, the Solomon and the Battle of Midway. He was awarded the American Defense Medal and the Asiatic Pacific theatre Ribbon with 5 service stars. When war broke out with North Korea, Joe reenlisted in the Air Force and served throughout that war as well. A kind and generous friend to many Joe worked at the Portsmouth Shipyard, as well as in the assembly of military electronics.
The beloved husband of the late Lena (Corzo), he was a loving father to Cynthia C. Todisco and her husband John Gill of Medford. The dear brother of Gloria Clemons of East Boston, the late Edith Guglieuzza, Emily Franzese, Mary Grana, and Louise Todisco, Joe also leaves his dear friend and caregiver Kevin Harrington, many nieces nephews and so many friends who would drop in to visit in his declining years.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St. Medford, Tuesday at 10 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in the Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant Street, Malden, at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Monday
2 - 4 & 7 - 9. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
