James F. McCarthy, Jr. of Weymouth originally from Dorchester, passed away peacefully at the age of 77 on June 28, 2013.
Jim was the loving son of James and Helen (Spaulding) McCarthy. Jim as he liked to be called is survived by his loving sons, Michael and his wife Toni-Ann of New York City, Stephen and his wife Christina of Carver, William and his wife Susan of Weymouth, Eric and his wife Sally of Whitman and James of Abington. Grampy will be missed and loving remembered by his grandchildren, Stephen, Rhiannon, Cameron, Shayla, Arica and Cole. Dear brother of Carole Antonellis of Flushing, New York. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
After his service in the U.S. Army and Navy Jim went to work as a bus driver at the MBTA and also worked as a butcher. During his retirement Jim an avid swimmer enjoyed the beach, trips to Aruba and watching classic black and white movies. Jim was also a member of the Weymouth Elks.
His funeral service will be held Tuesday July 2 at 10 AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. Burial will follow in the Colebrook Cemetery, Whitman. Visiting hours will be held Monday July 1 from 5-8 PM.
