Janie Butler Oliver, 82, of Donalsonville, formally of Tifton, died Thursday, June 27, 2013, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan, Alabama, following a brief illness. She was a resident of Seminole Manor Nursing Home in Donalsonville. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, July 1, 2013, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Gary Cadwell will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, July 1, 2013, from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Oliver was born on September 11, 1930 in Andalusia, Alabama and was the daughter of George Clifton Butler and Leana Mae Aultman Butler, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, R. D. Oliver. She was the former manager of the restaurant at Howard Johnson’s and Day’s Inn in Tifton. She lived in Tifton all of her life and moved to Donalsonville six years ago.
Mrs. Oliver is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Ellen Oliver of Canton and Andy and Joy Oliver of Donalsonville; her grandchildren, Brandi Oliver Warren and husband, Larry Warren, Jr. of Alapaha, Sarah Oliver and Rachel Oliver, both of Atlanta, Jessie Oliver of Donalsonville, Rebekah Oliver of Canton, Timothy and Phoebe Oliver of Durrango, Colorado; and one great-granddaughter, Bethany Oliver of Durrango, Colorado; a brother, Homer Butler of Valdosta; two sisters, Doris Felton and husband Chuck of Rowlesburg, West Virginia and Pat Farr of Cookeville, Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews.
