Michael (Mike) Kurey, 71, of Brockton died unexpectedly at home June 24, 2013. He was born, raised and educated in Boston and was the son of the late Thomas J. and Mary A. (Sarofeen) Kurey. He had been a Brockton resident for many years.
Mike was a Truck Driver for thirty years for the Teamsters Local 653, also serving as Trustee and Recording Secretary for the Local, and retired in 2003. He was a life member of the GWRRA. Known to some as the “Silver Fox”, Mike had two loves; first, his motorcycles and second, his karaoke, often singing at the Gourmet Oriental in Weymouth.
Mike was the husband of the late Patricia (Keating) Kurey. He is survived by his children; James J. Kurey and Helen Costa both of Brockton and Michael Kurey Jr.; his brothers Dr. Thomas J. Jr. of Brookfield, WI and Joseph M. of Norwood; his grandchildren Michael J. Kurey and James Costa and his longtime companion Eadie Johnson of Easton.
Visiting hours in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont St (Rte. 123), Friday 4-8pm. A procession will form from the funeral home Saturday at 8am for a funeral mass in Christ the King Parish/St. Colman Church at 9am. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
