Obituary


Roger J. Wilsoncroft, 75, of Tiverton, passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River. He was the wife of Mona M. (Kirby) Wilsoncroft, whom he was married to for 58 years.
Born in West Decatur, PA, and son of the late Roger B. and Verda M. (Parks) Wilsoncroft, he had lived in Tiverton since 1981. Prior to that he lived in Pennsylvania where he worked as a coal miner at the Rushton Coal Mine in the town of Phillipsburg. Mr. Wilsoncroft served in the United States Navy for 20 years and was a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Prior to his retirement, he worked in the Public Works Department at the Naval Station in Newport, RI. He was a commercial fisherman out of Portsmouth, RI, and an avid coin collector. He enjoyed hunting and gardening as well as spending time with his family.
Survivors along with his wife include his son: Robert W. Wilsoncroft and his wife Debra of Tiverton; his daughter: Diane Barnhart and her husband David of Tiverton; his son-in-law: Thomas G. Travers of Tiverton; his brother: Robert G. Wilsoncroft of PA; 2 sisters: Gloria A. Woods and Remona J. Daub, both of PA; 2 grandchildren: Matthew R. Wilsoncroft and Jason D. Barnhart; his great granddaughter: Kyla J. Barnhart and several nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late Karen A. Travers and brother of the late George B., Thomas and Walter Wilsoncroft and Barbara Hutton and Ethel Brocious.
Graveside service to which relatives and friends are invited will be Friday, June 28, 2013 at Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport, at 10:00 A.M.
