Obituary

Woburn – Frances A. Allosso, died peacefully, Sunday, June 23, 2013, in her home. The wife of the late John P. Allosso, she was 91 years old. Born in Arlington, she was one of eight children born to the late Vincent and Anna Rose Vigrolio.

In 1940, she met her husband John P. Allosso and they were married shortly thereafter in Arlington. Wanting to give their children a better life, they relocated to their first home on the west side of Woburn. While raising her family, Frances also enjoyed a career as one of Draper Lab’s first female technicians. Hired in 1954 as a Lab Technician in the Aerospace Industry, Frances was responsible for working on some of the parts that were used in Space Shuttles and other NASA related projects. Working for the lab for over 30 years, her co-workers regarded her as a dedicated, detail-oriented professional who was always cheerful and pleasant.

Despite a busy career, Frances devoted her free time to her family which included her daughter Nancy and son Patrick, and eventually four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She took great pride in preparing the “Sunday dinner” as well as holiday meals for the family which often included hand-made pastas, and other delicious Italian cuisine.

Her hobbies included reading, gourmet cooking, collecting recipes, fashion and shopping. Known always for her selfless devotion to friends and family, Frances made everyone whom she met feel at home and at ease. Her grace, beauty and sense of humor were magnetic and as such she had many close friends in addition to her family. She spent the last year of her life at the home of her daughter where she was surrounded constantly by her family which made her happy until the very end.

Frances is survived by her devoted daughter, Nancy A. Cormier of Woburn (the late John H. Cormier Jr.), the late Patrick J. Allosso, and his wife Janice Kalmes of Woburn. Loving grandmother of Robert L. Cormier of Tilton, NH, Karen C. McShea of San Juan, Puerto Rico, Michelle A. Ferullo and husband Michael Ferullo of Dracut, MA, and Patricia A. Trotta and husband Stephen Trotta of Woburn, MA. Great Grandmother of Brittany & Douglas Cormier, Bridgette & Connor McShea, Melinda & Mikayla Ferullo, Jacqueline & Matthew Trotta. Sister of Mary Panebianco of Salem, NH the late Carmella, Patrick, George, and Thomas Vigrolio; Mildred Rosselli; and Rose Muscare.

Funeral from the McLaughlin-Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St. WOBURN, Thursday, June 27th at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Barbara Church, 138 Cambridge Rd. Woburn at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Wednesday 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to American Cancer Society , 30 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701.
