Mr. Donald A. Shank, 87, a resident of Methuen, MA, passed away on Friday, June 21, 2013 at the Methuen Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Lawrence, MA, Donald was the son of the late Arthur and Yvonne (Patry) Shank. He served in the United States Navy attached to the Marines. He was a Corpsman Pharmacist with the 4th Marine Division in Guam. Donald had worked as a Corrections Officer for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Prison System as well as the Sheriff's Department. He had also worked in the Oxford Paper Mill.
Donald is survived by his loving wife: Mona (Rancourt) Shank, a son: Dennis Shank of Lawrence, MA, a brother: Kenneth Shank of Georgia, sisters: Georgette (Parent) Shank of Manchester, NH, Sandra Sanders of Newmarket, NH, and Bernise Gallagher of Methuen, MA.. He is also survived by sisters-in-law: Gloria Shank of Methuen, MA, Marybeth Shank of Sandown, NH, and several nieces and nephews. Donald was predeceased by his sons: David Shank and Donald A. Shank, Jr. as well as 2 brothers: Rodney and Joseph Shank. The family would like to thank the staff at the Methuen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, June 27, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. in St. Monica's Church, 212 Lawrence St., Methuen, MA. Burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence, MA. Family and friends may call on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 from 3 to 7 P.M. at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 122 Amesbury St., Lawrence, MA.
