Obituary

PALMER – Albertine R. (Leduc) Gagne-LaSalle, age 101, of Palmer, was Called Safely Home on Friday, June 21, 2013. She passed into Eternal Life at Wing Memorial Hospital in Palmer surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving husband, John. She was born at home on Trilby Avenue in the Aldenville section of Chicopee on January 12, 1912, a beloved daughter of the late Hilaire and Leda (Bergeron) Leduc. She was raised in Holyoke and attended the former Precious Blood Elementary School. She later lived on Brigham Road in South Hadley for many years before moving to Palmer in 2006. She was employed as a book binder at the former National Blank Book Company in Holyoke. Albertine was an enterprising woman who was way ahead of her time. She owned and operated a soft serve ice cream shop in Holyoke for many years and also owned the Ceramic Royale and the Bead Town Shop, both in Granby. Active in her faith, she was a longtime communicant of Saint Anne Church in Chicopee where she was a member of the Ladies Sodality Guild. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother; her beloved first husband, Joseph E. Gagne who was Called Home on June 5, 1972; and her loving son, Richard R. Gagne. She leaves her devoted husband, John S. LaSalle; and several dear grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday morning, June 25, 2013 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020 (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.) followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday morning, June 25, 2013 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. before the Mass. The parking lot is located in the rear of the funeral home.
