METHUEN – Sr. Camille-Marie “Sr. Irene Richard”, passed away Monday June 17, 2013 at the Saint Claire Residence of the Presentation of Mary in Methuen, MA.
Born and educated in Arctic, RI, she was the only child to Camille and Anna (Theberge) Richard, completing her high school education at the Presentation of Mary Academy in Hudson, NH. Sr. Camille-Marie received her Bachelor’s Degree in Music from Rivier College in Nashua, NH. Entering the Congregation of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary in August 1940, she professed her vows in Hudson, NH on March 2, 1943.
Sr. Camille-Marie’s religious and teaching profession began serving in parochial schools in Manchester, NH and Gardner, MA. In 1951 she would continue at the former Marie Joseph Academy in Biddeford, ME until its closing in 1972. Sr. Camille would remain in Biddeford serving as Local Superior and later a member of the support staff of the Marie Joseph Spiritual Center.
Sr. Camille was an outstanding Physical Education Teacher, with students appreciative of her joyful and free spirit during the training of the yearly field day event, students who she remained in contact with even into her retirement years. An accomplished musician, Sr. Camille taught piano and violin throughout her vocation. Due to failing health, Sr. Camille was transferred to the Residence Saint Claire in Methuen, MA during 2006.
ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 2:00p.m. – 4:00p.m. and 6:00p.m. – 8:00p.m. at the Saint Claire Residence of the Presentation of Mary 209 Lawrence Street Methuen, MA 01844. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 2:30p.m. in the Chapel of the Presentation of Mary with burial to follow in the Presentation of Mary Cemetery in Methuen, MA.
