Chester G. Heald
WW II, Korea, and Vietnam War, U.S. Marine Corps-Sgt. Major

TEWKSBURY: Chester G. Heald, age 93, a lifelong Tewksbury resident, and U.S. Marine Corps Veteran, passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2013.
He was the husband of the late Minerva E. (Sargent) Heald, who passed away on June 23, 1982.
Chester attended Tewksbury schools and graduated from Tewksbury High School in 1938. During his high school years, he loved playing football for the Tewksbury "Redmen" Football team.
Following graduation, Chester began his 29 year career in the Marine Corps. He was a dedicated military man and served aboard numerous ships including the USS Charleston, the USS Intrepid, the USS Independence, and Destroyer-J. Fred Talbot, to name a few.
Chester participated in active duty operations which included World War II, Okinawa, Japan, Wake Island, Korea, and Vietnam. In addition, he participated in numerous Military rifle and pistol competitions.
Having had the proper safety training, Chet began his lifelong love for rifle and pistol marksmanship competitions when he was 8 years old.
He was a devoted husband to his late wife Minerva E. (Sargent) originally from Exeter, NH, the much loved son of the late Lena M. (Greeno) Heald and Charles A. Heald, proud nephew of the late Emerson Greeno.
Chester is survived by one son, John E. Heald; one daughter, Marleen E. (Heald)Burke; three grandsons, Dennis Heald, Kenneth J. and Thomas E. Burke; one great grandson, Jarred A. Burke.
Calling hours will be Monday, June 24, from 10 a.m. until 12 Noon in the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Graveside services will follow at the Tewksbury Cemetery.
