BOURNE –John A. Almeida, husband of Jacqueline L. (Morehouse) Almeida, died at his Bourne home on June 15, 2013.
He was 87.
Born and raised in Taunton, he was the son of the late Manuel and Margaret (Govoni) Almeda.
A 1943 graduate of Taunton High School, Mr. Almeida served in the U.S. Navy during the Second World War.
He lived in Bourne for the past thirty-five years.
A retired supervisor, Mr. Almeida was employed by the former New England Telephone Company for many years, and in his spare time enjoyed hunting.
In addition to his wife, he leaves a son, Barry J. Almeida of Bourne; two sisters, Margaret White of Taunton and Joan Roy of Shreveport, LA; three grandchildren, Robert, Christopher and Jeremy Almeida, all of FL; three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also the father of the late John E. Almeida.
To honor Mr. Almeida’s wishes, funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.
Private Calling Hours, for family only, will be held at the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway at St. Mary’s Square, Taunton on Thursday, June 20th from 5 to 7 p.m.
Private graveside services will be held at Mayflower Hill Cemetery a later date.
