– Roger E. Roy, 51, of North Smithfield, formerly of Woonsocket, died Saturday morning at home.
Born and raised in Woonsocket, he was a son of Vivian D. (Mandeville) Roy and the late Roger N. Roy. He attended Woonsocket schools was a resident of Woonsocket for most of his life and lived in North Smithfield for the last 12 years.
Roger was a self-employed contractor operating R&R Painting in the local area for many years. He also previously worked at Electric Boat.
Roger will be remembered as a loving son and brother, devoted father and grandfather and friend to all who knew him.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a step-son Jared Roy and a step- daughter Alicia Roy, a brother Thomas O. Roy and a grandson Gabriel all of Woonsocket. He is also survived by an uncle Camille Mandeville and an aunt Simone Goudreau, a niece Brianna Roy and many cousins.
His funeral will be Friday at 9:00 am from the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave., Woonsocket followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Agatha’s Church, Joffre Ave., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham. Visiting hours are Thursday from 5-8 pm.
